The market formerly located across the street-inspired the name Beauty World Center. It was once the Tai Tong Ah (Da Dong Ya) Amusement Park, but after the Japanese Occupation, it was turned into a market when its appeal waned. The daughter of Mr. Giam, one of the market’s owners, inspired the name Beauty World for this new establishment. In a nod to its past as an amusement park, it also took the name “World.” It was about the other “Worlds,” such as the Great World and the Happy World. The open-air market is Beauty World formerly included 166 booths, performance spaces, and even hostess services.
