You could be forgiven for thinking you’ve stumbled into a massive youth club Cathay Cineleisure Orchard 15 cinemas and 2.300 seats housed on the fifth floor of a youth-oriented ‘lifestyle mall’ and one of Singapore’s most exciting entertainment centres. The latest $300 million Hollywood blockbusters, 3D films, 4K digital projection, massive ticket halls, and plenty of food and drink options (including health-conscious mini-popcorn) are all wrapped up in the apex of 21st-century movie watching. You may even see the most recent releases in a cinema dedicated solely to couples. For your privacy and comfort, Hall 3 contains 48 pairs of seats.
Background
The mall opened in October 1997, replacing the former Orchard Cinema, destroyed in 1994. The mall caters to young people with combination food and beverage outlets, fashion stores, and a hair salon. On Level 8, there’s a karaoke lounge, and on Level 9, there’s an indoor trampoline park. In the mall, Cathay Cineleisure Orchard has 12 movie screens.
The building has received awards for its innovative use of colour in its design, including the “SIA-ICI (Singapore Institute of Architects – ICI Paints) Colour Award.” In a survey by The Straits Times in April 1998, two of its cinemas (Halls 3 and 6) rated Singapore’s top screens.

If you’re looking for a creative outlet in Orchard, stop by Arteastiq! It’s both a tea shop and an art jam workshop, with the name combining “art” and “tea” (thus the name!).
