About The  Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity

The Church of the Holy Trinity was established in 1988 by Archbishop Gregory Yong to serve the rapidly growing Tampines New Town’s estimated 8,000 Catholic residents. It would be the final church erected while he was in office. It became Singapore’s thirty-first  Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity on October 30, 1990, formally inaugurated and blessed.

The three-story structure fashioned into the shape of a fish, which in Christian imagery stands for Jesus Christ. Since the Greek word for fish, “ichthys,” became an acrostic for “Iesous Christos Theou Yios Soter,” or Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour, the early Christians utilised the sign of a fish to identify one another.

History

Fr. Paul Tay, who would serve as the first Parish Priest, was given the responsibility of building the new church.  Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity went door-to-door with a small number pioneer parishioners to begin establishing the neighbourhood for the new church. Fr. Tay visited multiple parishes the same time to sing to raise money. While tremendous work went into designing and erecting the church, Fr. Tay’s efforts primarily concentrated on creating a parish where the people were the church’s life and soul. The church would be a family rather than just a structure. He started several organisations and ministries that were vital to maintaining parish life.

In the archdiocese, one of the biggest parishes in the Church of the Holy Trinity. Up to 14,000 parishioners served during its first ten years. Since two new churches have built-in Pasir Ris and Punggol, the parish census has increased to an estimated 10,000 people.

Trinity doctrine in Christianity

The Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit are the three divine beings or hypostases that make up God in the Christian theology of the Trinity. The three individuals unique share the same “substance, essence, or nature.” A person is who you are; nature is what you are. One of the great mysteries of Christian belief is the Trinity. This theology holds that there is only one God who manifested in three personalities. Everyone is complete and whole. According to the Fourth Lateran Council, “it is the Father who produces, the Son who begotten, and the Holy Spirit who flows,” they are separate from one another in their connections of origin.
