Guide to know about the Catholic High School

Under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Singapore, Catholic High School (CHS) is one of Singapore’s most prestigious schools. Although it is a Catholic school, it accepts Catholic and non-Catholic pupils. The Catholic High School (Primary Section) was created in the basement of the Church of St Peter and Paul on Queen Street in 1935 by the late Rev. Fr. Edward Becheras, a French missionary. To meet the demand for spaces, CHS moved to its current location in Bishan in 1992. Through inquiry-based learning, research, and passion pursuits, all students in our OP and IP tracks continue to benefit from our forward-thinking curriculum centered on building 21st-century abilities such as critical and creative thinking, civic literacy, and communication skills.

School mission

To create Catholic High School (Primary Section) as a leader in innovative and demanding programs, a trailblazer in character development, and a lighthouse for the excellence mentality, hard rooted in Christian principles.

Vision for the School:

The Catholic High student is a leader, gentleman, and multilingual scholar with a character who is enthusiastic about life, studying, and serving others.

Philosophy, culture, and ethos in the classroom:

All of our activities as a Catholic mission school are motivated by love. We make sure that pupils build a Mindset of Excellence and that they like learning. Our school’s style of education, in which every student is a Leader, Gentleman, and Bilingual Scholar in the making, is built on the strengths of our tradition, alumni, and parent support group. The CHS experience provides a curriculum rich in academic distinction, leadership and character development, athletics and aesthetics excellence, and a unique dual-track approach with the O-Level and Integrated Programmes (IP).
