Understand more about the Eunos Bus Interchange

The Eunos Bus Interchange is a bus interchange located in Geylang East in Singapore. It is situated and constructed close to Eunos MRT station. Eunos Road 2, Eunos Crescent, and Sims Avenue all encircle it. The Eunos MRT station, the interchange is built with a traditional Malay roof shape and construction but with modern elements such as steel beams. Due to the bus interchange’s proximity to Geylang, the area has a sense of identity. Eunos Bus Interchange also pays tribute to Eunos Abdullah, who in the early 1900s obtained 700 hectares of land for the Malay colonies. It is one of the few bus interchanges that are not in the core of the respective town.

History:

The Eunos Bus Terminal was a bus interchange until it gets rebuilt in 1989 to connect with the recently opened Eunos MRT Station. It had previously operated along Sims Avenue. On Sunday, December 10th, 1989, Eunos Bus Interchange officially opened. It adopts a Malay Minangkabau roof style similar to that of Eunos MRT to blend in with the surrounding estate. It enhances the area’s Malay flavor, which is near Geylang Serai. Six routes from Eunos Bus Terminal were shifted to the junction at its opening, including the 3, 50, 84, 382, 385, and M4. Under the elevated MRT lines, the bus interchange contains a bus park with 30 layover spaces. Eunos Road 2 serves as the vehicle entrance and exit. There are two boarding berths and four alighting berths.
