Primary School

Geylang Methodist School (Primary) believes in nurturing the whole child. Each child will ‘enter to learn’ and be equipped with a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and scientific skills. This is to help them ‘depart to serve’, and be ready to demonstrate their concern for their school, community, and country through active participation and contribution to the good of Singapore.

Our school aims to instill in every pupil a strong desire to pursue academic and character excellence; to take risks and to give one’s best. We equip our pupils with the skills, knowledge, and passion for learning to develop them holistically as we believe that every child can learn. The school believes in developing 21st CC in every child using ICT where the learner is the focal point of the curriculum. The curriculum is centered on nurturing self-directed and collaborative learning competencies in every pupil, heightening pupils’ motivation and engagement in learning through innovations in T&L.

In alignment with the Desired Outcomes of Education, we believe very strongly in inculcating the right values and attitudes in our pupils. The pupils will be imbued with the competencies and school values that will develop good character, equipped with leadership competencies.

The staff in the school believe that we ‘enter to serve’ the needs of our pupils well, so as to ‘etch a legacy’ in our pupils and in the Geylang community.

Bendemeer Primary School started in 1977 and was officially opened by Mr. Sidek Saniff, Member of Parliament for Kolam Ayer on March 1978. Under PRIME, the school merged with Beng Wan Primary School on Jan 2004. Balestier Hill Primary School was established in January 2002 following the merger of Moulmein Primary School and Swiss Cottage Primary School. The school was declared officially open on Nov 2004 by Minister of Health Mr. Khaw Boon Wan.

In 2019, Bendemeer Primary School and Balestier Hill Primary School merged to form the new Bendemeer Primary School. Our new mission is to nurture and inspire every student to be the best that they can be. The school will strive to give every student the best experience in their 6 years of primary school and to build their self-confidence and leadership qualities as they develop into young adults who will contribute to the nation.

Canossa Catholic Primary School was established in 1941. It is one of the educational institutions set up by the sisters of the Canossian Daughters of Charity in Singapore. It is affiliated to St Anthony#s Canossian Secondary, an autonomous school.

Canossa Catholic Primary School (CCPS) is an all-girls catholic school that delivers Canossian Education which anchors in the formation of the whole person. The Canossian education emulates the work and spirit of our foundress St Magdalene of Canossa to serve the poorest of the poor. It is inclusive and embraces persons of all faiths and races and those with special needs. The Canossian education emphasizes the formation of the heart to anchor our pupils in values especially to instil in our pupils the spirit of serving the poor.

In line with the Canossian Education of building a whole person, CCPS aims to develop our pupils to be passionate learners who are self-directed and resilient and compassionate leaders who serve with humility. CCPS graduates will be leaders of character who live the Canossian Identity which encompasses the school values of 3Cs (Commitment, Compassion and Cheerfulness).

It takes a village to raise a child and CCPS has a unique advantage as it is situated in the Canossian Eduplex, a unique borderless community, consisting of Convent Primary, Canossaville Children and Community Services, Canossian School (for the hearing loss), and Canossaville Preschool to provide for the social and educational needs of the community in Aljunied. The various sectors in the Canossian Eduplex share a common belief in the care of the child and work closely with one another to provide the love, care and education needed for the holistic development of the child.

Kong Hwa School was founded by the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan (SHHK) in 1953. This was immediately after the Japanese Occupation, when the committee members of the SHHK realized the urgent need for education and that there was a drastic shortage of schools in Singapore. The school currently stands at its original location along Guillemard Road- which was donated by Tan Lark Sye.

Secondary School

Geylang Methodist School (Secondary)

Dunman High School (formerly known as Dunman Government Chinese Middle School) is an autonomous co-educational secondary school in Singapore offering the Integrated Programme. It has always been the top co-educational secondary school in Singapore in terms of academic results.

Broadrick Secondary School was first established in 1968 at Dunman Road as an integrated school with both English and Chinese streams. The school was officially opened by Mr. Joseph Francis Conceicao, the then Member of Parliament for Katong, on 14 March 1969.

The school later moved to its current location at 61 Dakota Crescent in 2005 and was officially opened by Dr Yaacob Ibrahim on 20 July 2007.

Broadrick Secondary School celebrated her 45th Anniversary on 24 April 2015 which was graced by Minister for Communications and Information and Minister–in-charge of Muslim Affairs, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, an alumnus.

Chung Cheng High School (Main) was founded in 1939 as an all-boys school at 60 Kim Yam Road. The school was guided by its philosophy of “Excellence in Education for All” and admitted students from different strata of society. With the Japanese invasion of Singapore in 1942, the school was forced to cease operations. The school resumed in 1945 after the Second World War and began to enroll female students.

Junior College

St Andrew’s Junior College is a junior college in Singapore, offering two-year pre-university courses leading up to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level examination. It is an Anglican mission school, part of St. Andrew’s School.

Polytechnic

Temasek Polytechnic is a post-secondary education institution and statutory board under the purview of the Ministry of Education in Singapore. Temasek Polytechnic was established in 1990, it is renowned for its law, and design programmes. It is also the first and only polytechnic in Singapore to offer a law programme.

International School

Nexus International School is located at Aljunied Walk where its new campus now stands. It moved over to Aljunied in January 2020 from its previous location in Ulu Pandan Road off Pandan Valley. The school caters from Nursery up to Year 13.

Raffles Montessori @ Aljunied was established in 2003, Raffles Montessori (Aljunied) is a MOE-registered kindergarten. We are conveniently located just 5 minutes walking distance from Aljunied MRT station.
