Know More About The Hope @ Jurong West

The first Hope meeting took place in a tiny flat in Singapore in 1991 with just five attendees. More like-minded people joined this community over the years. We set out to love our neighbours, create disciples, and grow churches in Singapore and around the world with the common goal of completing the Great Commission. Thousands have attained the vision and joined our spiritual family world. We strive to be a Christ-centered, Holy Spirit-empowered, and Bible-based community.  Hope @ Jurong West  owe both God and one another our allegiance.

Community participation

Hope @ Jurong West actively participates in the community in several ways.

It gathers non-perishable food items given to the Goochland Food Pantry. It operates the Hope Thrift Store to offer low-amount local families, ardent thrifters, and any local shopper access to clothing, furniture, and other household items. In addition, Hope Church has organised neighbourhood activities like a 5K race. As a part of a worldwide community, Hope frequently takes part in missions abroad, including visits for medical and dental care to the Dominican Republic.

Background of Hope Church

A “small group of people dreaming about what the church may be if we are honest, relevant, and authentic” launched Hope in 1997.  “We respect the Bible and its appreciative constancy and direction in the face of constant change, as on the website. On the other hand, we do kind enjoy creative things.” The church initially met at Ruby Carver Elementary School for its first two years before moving to Godwin High School. Hope purchased its current property in Goochland County across West Creek and moved into the structure in September 2008.

Programs

There are five services every Sunday at 8:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 5:00 p.m. Except for the 5:00 p.m. service, all services include child care. There are additional programmes available for middle school and high school students. The teaching ministries for women are Thrive and Thrive @ Night[5]. Other churches cater to people interested in small group Bible studies, including young adults, college students, males, and men.

Hope Downtown and other places

Hope’s leadership decided strategically in 2013 to launch additional locations in the Richmond metro area instead of increasing its current auditorium capacity after the West Creek auditorium filled during multiple weekend services. As a result, Hope effectively became a multisite church. The “Midtown” neighbourhood of Richmond is bounded roughly by Libbie Avenue to the east, the Boulevard to the west, the James River to the north, and the Lakeside neighbourhood to the south, chosen as the site for Hope’s initial campus. In September 2015, the “Hope Midtown” community came together to launch a Sunday worship service at the venerable Thomas Jefferson High School.

Church of Arts and Hope

Hope Church’s dedication to the arts is one of its defining characteristics. This value derives from the Christian belief that God, as Creator, imbued humanity with creativity when He created them in His image, elevating their works (the arts) to a realm of sacred expression and beauty. By running a gallery and visual art show series, assisting songwriters and musicians at their on-site recording studio, and creating, producing, and releasing original films through its affiliate, they aim to support local artists.
