Bus Park Expansion:

LTA published a request for proposals in April 2015 for the current Hougang Central Bus Interchange. A further 11 parking spots would be added to the existing 48 parking lots, expanding the present 1.3ha interchange by 0.3ha. The enlarged concourse will enable the addition of 4–5 new BSEP bus lines. BSI (1990) Pte. Ltd. received the construction contract (RD305 – Expansion of Bus Interchanges) in February 2016 for S$12.5 million. The new interchange is situated next to Block 838 along Hougang Central, west of the current junction, in a vacant grassy area. It debuted on January 11, 2017.

Hougang Bus Park:

To make room for the construction of the Cross Island Line, a component of the Hougang Central Bus Interchange will soon relocate. The Land Transport Authority released a Temporary Bus Parking and Driver Facility (TPDF) on January 31, 2019. Construction starts at the end of 2019 and anticipates finishing at the end of 2021. The equipment known as the site signage gets erected in Hougang Bus Park in 2021. The first day was April 25, 2022. Feeder bus services:

Hougang South Bus Interchange was home to numerous feeder buses connected to Hougang, including Service 321 and its subroutes 322, 323, 326, 327, 328, and 329.Later, 329 would be discontinued and combined with 323, and 323 would be discontinued owing to low demand. In 2004, there were only routes 321, 322, 326, 327, and 328 remained. The intersection of routes 321 and 326 creates route 113, and routes 322 and 327 create route 112. While 112 and 113 began at Hougang Central, 328 was renamed 101 and extended to Serangoon. The only feeder bus route from Hougang Central would be 325 until 2014 when Feeder 324 was created as part of the Bus Service Enhancement Scheme to loop at Upper Serangoon Cres.
