I12 Katong, previously Katong Mall and Katong People’s Complex, is a seven-story retail mall located in eastern Singapore at the junction of East Coast Road and Joo Chiat Road.
History:
Completed in 1983 as Katong People’s Complex, it had an outside facade suggestive of a prison cell and exposed blue pipes. Back then, it was a strata-titled mall with a branch shop and several retailers and cafés. There are also several clinical facilities within the mall.
The mall was i12 Katong Mall when the facade get renovated in 1995. Replacing the branch shop with a Cold Storage supermarket and other educational institutions filled the mall’s upper story. The basements of the mall housed an electronics store and a variety of strata-titled residences.
Facilities
Primary Clinic:
In addition, i12 Katong will host Singapore’s first medical coworking space. The 7,000-square feet Core Clinic will provide medical experts with improved access to a distinct ecosystem of patients and professionals.
The Food Court:
Malaysia Boleh, located in the basement of i12 Katong, is the food court. It is currently open for business. You can find Boost juice bar and other food booths in the basement. There is also IPPUDO Ramen On the first level, with more eateries to follow. PS. Café, Prive, and Tim Ho Wan are among the other eateries planned to launch in i12 Katong in the next three months.
Climbing Center:
While there appears to be no playground on the i12 Katong, there will be a Climb Central outlet. Children and adults will be able to climb there beginning in the first quarter of 2022.
Shops:
I12 Katong will include 180 retail outlets. Restaurants and lifestyle brands are examples of these enterprises. From December 2021 to March 2022, open it gradually. CS Fresh supermarket, Golden Village, and United World Preschool are the principal tenants of i12 Katong. All That Jazz Dance Academy, Core Collective, Junior Page, and lululemon are among the mall’s new tenants. Jmart, Tim Ho Wan, Watsons, and Wine Collective are regular tenants. The first Lululemon store in the East, measuring over 3,000 square feet, is located at i12 Katong.
Collaboration in the Arts:
In partnership with the local art gallery Sound of Art, i12 Katong organizes a series of art shows. The show, titled “In the Beginning,” honors the bright and diverse paintings from around Asia. Pop Palette is a professionally selected lifestyle zone with various Instagram backdrops. The mall is also working with the local design collective PLUS Group to create a sculpture out of sustainable materials like FSC-certified and plant-friendly paper. KLIK Reward System:
i12 Katong will introduce a new rewards program named “KLIK” in January 2022. It is a new app-based loyalty program that allows customers to earn points with every purchase that gets used for discounts.
