Keppel Land’s key environmental, social, and governance challenges have been recognized, and the Board and management assess and examine them on a regular basis as part of the company’s strategy planning.

Reduction of CO2 Emissions

When all of Keppel Land’s BCA Green Mark-awarded projects are finished, the overall reduction in carbon emissions would be about 115,000 tonnes per year.

Green Mark Awards from the BCA

As of the end of 2021, there were 89 BCA Green Mark Awards, with one Platinum (Zero Energy), one Platinum (Super Low Energy), and 16 Platinum Awards.

Safety Education and Training

Over 98,000 people have been taught at Keppel Land’s Safety Awareness Centres in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia as of the end of 2021.

Savings on Energy

When all of Keppel Land’s BCA Green Mark-awarded projects are completely built, they are expected to save approximately 280 million kWh per year, which translates to around $65 million in annual cost savings.

Action on Climate Change

Keppel Land has implemented a comprehensive set of steps to create low-carbon, sustainable urban projects. We support the battle against plastic pollution and, to the extent practicable, avoid single-use plastics in our Singapore and international activities.

Management of the Environment

Keppel Land is dedicated to reducing its environmental effect and focusing on sustainable management and resource efficiency. The ISO 9001 quality management system, the ISO 14001 environmental management system, and the ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system have all been implemented.

Environmental Objectives

Keppel Land has set a goal of lowering carbon emissions intensity by 40% by 2030, compared to 2010. From 2010 to 2030, this will result in a reduction of about 140,000 tonnes of carbon emissions, resulting in a potential savings of over $75 million. By 2030, we want to cut our energy and water intensity by 30% below 2010 levels, while increasing the quantity of green materials we utilize to 50%. Furthermore, we have established high BCA Green Mark objectives for our projects.

Promoting environmental awareness

Various environmental programs, such as the ‘R.I.S.E to the Challenge’ outreach program, are organized by Keppel Land to promote sustainability and climate change awareness among employees, tenants, and the general public.

Unique Feature: Singapore’s First Green Mark Platinum (Zero Energy) Commercial Building, Keppel Bay Tower

Keppel Land is dedicated to constructing green properties, maximizing resource efficiency, and using renewable energy sources. The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) recognized Keppel Bay Tower as a Green Mark Platinum (Zero Energy) building in December 2020. It is Singapore’s first commercial building to get this honor. Keppel Bay Tower was also the first commercial construction in Singapore to use renewable energy to power all of its activities when it opened in January 2020.
