The Battlefield of Kranji

Instead, this park on the island’s northern coast is a historical landmark since it is the site of the Battle for Singapore’s Kranji beach battle. It was here that the Imperial Japanese Army attacked the beach on the morning of February 10, 1942, to secure a second beachhead for the invasion of Singapore. Australian and DALFORCE volunteers fought to keep it safe.

The Battle of Kranji gets marked by a war memorial plaque. Visitors to Kranji Reservoir Park can have a peaceful stroll through the park’s many walkways. Old-style stone seats provide shade from the sun, while mature trees provide shade from the sun. For security reasons, water access gets now blocked off. However, you can see Johor, which is just beyond the straits.

Fishing and cycling are popular activities.

At Fishing Grounds A and B, anglers will be allowed to catch and keep their seafood. Fishing Ground A is located near Carpark A, near the eastern end of Kranji Way, along a stretch of stony banks with shelters and benches. Fishing Ground B is at Carpark B, across from the Kranji Beach Battle Site.

Although there are no established bicycle lanes in Kranji Reservoir Park, there are plenty of trails and boardwalks to explore. Continue your bicycle excursion via the Sungei Buloh Nature Park Connector, which connects the park with several other green sites in the area, if long-distance routes are more your style.

The 20-kilometer path connects to several parks, including Sungei Buloh Wetlands Reserve, located near Kranji Dam and the Kranji Marshes, and features a diverse range of flora and animals.
