HortPark is a one-stop gardening destination, bringing together gardening-related, recreational, educational, research, and recreational activities under one large cover in a park environment. The 23-hectare park is a knowledge hub for flora and gardening, providing a platform for the business to share best practices and display lawn ideas. It also serves as a park link, connecting Tekol Blangah Hill Park to Kent Ridge Park. As a gardening center, Nature Playgarden at Hortpark aims to foster a gardening lifestyle. The Building Huts:
These two sections have three teepees and a sand and gravel floor. Children may use sand and gravel to build structures, transform the terrain, and engage with the environment. All tipis have open sides, allowing children to construct huts from twigs, branches, or giant dry leaves available in play areas.
The Great Big Adventure:
This log play area, located in a fig grove, has a collection of logs that serve as stepping stones, a gathering table, and a long hill.
The Stream:
Children will find water running through several channels cut into tree trunks in this location. Water excites the senses, allowing youngsters to investigate things that float or sink and influence water flow as they construct their dams via creative play.
The Kitchen:
On the treasure trail, with a table around fruit trees where youngsters can pretend to cook with easy kitchen items.
The Valley of the Trees:
Children can climb and swing in the valley of tree trunks. The logs get arranged following the area’s existing topography. It improves physical fitness, motor abilities, and social skills while promoting self-efficacy.
A network of log crossing decks connects The Kitchen to Nature Playgarden at Hortpark. After the rain, children may also watch the water go down the drain, which enhances the experience of the site by allowing them to see and hear the water while also offering information about the natural process of the water cycle.
The Mysterious Den:
Individually or in small groups, children can seek protection from the weather or enjoy a peaceful time under a bamboo grove. Sunlight passing through the bamboo generates a diffused light in which light and shadow shift throughout time, bringing depth to the area. Children may also look out and see The Log Valley.
The Magic Forest:
Dillenia species such as Dillenia excelsa, Dillenia Philippines, and Dillenia suffruticosa provide a network of tunnels and hiding spots for youngsters to explore or take refuge from the main activity. Children may also come up close to the plants and observe birds and insects pollinating the blooms and devouring Dillenia fruit.
The Singing Seeds:
This musical play area consists of dangling bamboo poles of various diameters that produce chimes of pitches when children move the rods or wind blows. Hollow melodic seesaws and wheels packed with seeds from Saga Tree, Rubber Tree, and Rattleweed seedpods are also available.
