Dr. Goh Keng Swee, Minister of Finance, declared it open on July 26, 1965. New Town Primary School became entirely English-medium in 1984.
The Student Leadership Curriculum is a six-year program with character as its cornerstone. The chance for all students to take on a leadership role is a significant component of the curriculum. Learning at New Town Primary School instills in pupils a sense of awe. The program enables students to explore and develop their interests providing a potent foundation in reading and numeracy.
