Waterway Point: All You Need To Know
In the heart of Punggol New Town in Singapore, close to the Punggol MRT/LRT station, is a suburban retail centre called Waterway Point. The mall got constructed as a part of Watertown, the first waterfront residential and retail complex in Punggol. It is the first mall in Singapore to incorporate a town square and a visitors’ centre, giving locals and the general public a way to learn more about Punggol’s history through exhibitions and civic and community activities. The mall had a soft premiere on January 18, 2016, and on April 19, 2016, it got formally inaugurated.
Waterway Point got built-in 2014. On October 25, 2011, mall developer Frasers Centrepoint Limited announced the opening of Waterway Point. The mall, part of the S$1.6 billion new Watertown development, was jointly created by Far East Organization and Sekisui House on a vacant parcel of land next to a river and an MRT station. With a tenant mix of around 30% F&B, 43% retail, 15% entertainment, and 12% others, it has a total gross floor area of 542,493 square feet (50,399.2 m2) and 370,824 square feet (34,450.7 m2) of retail space distributed over four floors, including two basements (education institutions, banks, civic & community amenities such as a library).
The Cove, one of the themed areas, is situated inside the mall. The Boardwalk’s entrance leads to the canal. The nearby suburban dwellers may find various restaurants, fashion, entertainment, and facilities at Waterway Point, which is situated next to the Punggol Waterway. The mall gets divided into an East Wing and a West Wing, which gets joined by a 24-hour boardwalk called The Boardwalk that connects Punggol Waterway Park with the mall and Punggol MRT/LRT Station. This plan differs from many standard mall layouts. Additionally, the mall has themed indoor and outdoor spaces for exhibitions, community events, and leisure activities.
The mall contains several schools, libraries, and children’s play areas, including a dry and wet playground on the second level. Additionally, it offers banks, hairdressers, a 24-hour supermarket, and businesses for telecommunications.
Location of a commercial building
A business building called Waterway Point gets well situated in District 19’s Punggol Central. Punggol Mrt/Lrt station, which is 0.2 kilometres distant, is the closest Mrt station. Seng Kang and Buangkok stations are two more stations close. Numerous bus routes are also available close by. You may go to various locations via vital expressways – CTE, TPE, and KPE. It will take you around 20 to 25 minutes to drive to the Marina Bay District and the Central Business District.
