All About Zhonghua Primary School

The name Zhonghua derives from the old name of the Chung Hwa Girls School, established in 1911 by a Chinese clan organization to provide education to the children of the Chinese population. In 1951, it expanded into a full-fledged school. In 1957, it was designated as a government-supported institution. The courses at the two campuses had separate principals in 1962 to encourage better Zhonghua Primary School management.

Establishment:

Due to dwindling enrolment due to the parental desire for English-medium schools, Chung Hua Girls’ Primary School on Niven Road was closed in 1980.

Between June 2000 and November 2001, the school gets considerably improved under PRIME, which stands for Programme for Rebuilding and Improving Existing Schools. The renovations get completed satisfactorily, and the school now has up-to-date facilities. In December 2015, the Ministry of Education began an upgraded effort at Zhonghua Primary School to equip the school with extra facilities to enhance engaged learning in academic and non-academic areas.

As a result of the upgrade,

Classroom, Subject Based Banding Room, and Learning Support Rooms have all get redesigned.

A band room, a dance studio, a performing arts studio, an outdoor jogging track, an Outdoor Experiential Learning Area, a Flexsi dynamic play area with specialized equipment, and a purpose-built Student Care Centre are all available.

The majority of the work for ZPS will get done in the school’s back open space. While we will make every effort to maintain safety and minimize the impact on staff and students, there will be inevitable short-term disruptions.

Additional Safety Measures During the PERI Upgrade

Enhance – pedestrian safety – additional safety officers will get stationed near the pedestrian crossing between the school’s main gate walkway and the canteen. A vehicle ground controller will regulate the placement of safety water barriers and a gate on either side to manage vehicular access. Nonetheless, please remind your children to use extra caution when crossing the street at school.”

Philosophy, culture, and Ethos in the Classroom:

We also believe in instilling resilience in our children so that they may develop a spirit of risk-taking and exploration.

Thinknovote’s Applied Learning Program:

Thinknovate is a one-of-a-kind STEM-focused Applied Learning Program. From P1 to P6, every student at Zhonghua Primary School participates in a progressive Applied Learning Program. The curriculum is school-based and is tailored to the requirements of our students by our instructors. It all starts with P1 students discovering a screen-free coding tool like MatataLab and learning to code through mini-challenges presented by their classmates.
