According to a survey carried out by University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce showed the average uptake rate for condominiums launched between 2015 until 2Q 2018 was 81%. New condos launched in 3Q 2018 sold about 64% of total 22,579 units. In Bangkok, some developers reported a 100% take-up rate after a few days of official launch signaling an increase in confidence in Thailand’s long-term economic situation.

The Bank of Thailand reported a surge in residential construction activity; condominium registrations rose by 69% to 53,186 units in H1 2018 representing a 30% increase from the previous year. Land and residential transactions increased by 5.1% from 2017 to THB 539.64 billion (US$16.56 billion).

Foreign buyers are the new target group for many developers especially for projects located in Central Business District, Sukhumvit and Ratchadapisek Roads. In Q2 2018 alone there were approximately 88,000 foreigners who applied for work permits, and those figures are predicted to rise over the coming years.
