Admiralty Secondary School was recognized in 2006, four years after it opened, and designated as a school specializing in Robotics Enterprise. The potential for technology to revolutionise society is recognises ADSS. The school’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) curriculum improved to give pupils the skills they need to embrace the growing role of technology in our lives.
Admiralty Secondary School launched its Applied Learning Programme (ALP) and Learning for Life Programme (LLP) in 2014 and 2015 based on its technological strengths. The ‘Design Thinking via Innovation and Technology’ ALP seeks to provide all students with fundamental electronics, programming, and coding skills and the ability to empathise with users through Design Thinking. ‘Nurturing Mindful Leaders Through Community Outreach,’ according to the LLP.
Application for a Computer
The Computer Applications department strives to give our Normal Technical students in preparation for the emerging IT multimedia era. Our teaching and learning style is student-centred, employing an authentic problem set to stimulate learning. The trigger could be an object, an event, or a topic students are interested in learning. Concepts and skills addressing the intended learning goals are taught through the trigger. The abilities learned are repeated and reinforced by instruction, hands-on practice, and assignments, and the learning outcomes in a problem set may span two or more modules.
Department of Craft and Technology
The Design and Technology unit seeks to provide a platform for students to gain 21st Century Abilities through a design-focused curriculum involving research, reasoned application of knowledge, and skills in areas of design and technology through a systematic approach to solving design challenges. Guided design journal lower secondary students learn positive values and a disposition for enterprise, creativity, and invention. They will have the opportunity to investigate, conceptualise, and develop ideas communicate graphically, and interact with materials using appropriate hand tools. Secondary School Students continue to study the design process and technologies to greater intensity. They create self-initiated design journals and presentation boards to strengthen their determination by iterating on their project ideas.
Humanities
Geography and History in the Lower Secondary School. Social Studies in the Lower Secondary School (Normal Technical). The Humanities Department’s Teaching and Learning approach is inquiry-based learning in an authentic learning environment. It feels our pupils in making sense of difficulties in the world they live in. These socioeconomic challenges transcend not only discipline but also national and geographic boundaries. Our students’ interest will pique a result of promoting inquiry in a realistic learning environment, leading them to challenge what they currently know and want to know about the topics.
Music
The tagline “listen, move, and perform” is used to organise music courses. Students are taught rhythm beginning in secondary school and become accustomed to it through movement and incorporation of “orff” teaching into daily classes. Boom whackers and bell plates were introduced to students in secondary and secondary 2 through listening and movement. They also learn to put one show incorporating rhythm and various musical aspects. The primary focus of music classes is on music listening, movement, and performance. Furthermore, team activities and performances instill discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.
