Broadrick Secondary School is a co-educational government secondary school in Singapore, located next to the Dakota MRT station along Old Airport Road.
History
Broadrick Secondary School gets founded in 1968 as a co-educational, double-session English and Chinese stream school. On March 14, 1969, Joseph Francis Conceicao, the Member of Parliament for Katong, formally opened the school compound, which gets located along Dunman Road. Broadrick became a fully English-medium school in 1985.
E. G. Broadrick, President of the Municipal Council from 1904 to 1910 and British Resident of Selangor from 1911 to 1919, was honoured with the name Broadrick Secondary School. In 2005, the school relocated to its current location at 61 Dakota Crescent (the former site of Mountbatten Primary School); Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Yaacob Ibrahim officially opened the school on July 20, 2007.
Merger
Broadrick Secondary School and Maju Secondary School combined in January 1996 to form a single-session secondary school. On January 4, 1968, Maju Secondary School opened on Dunman Road, and on June 6, 1969, Joseph Francis Conceicao, Member of Parliament for Katong, declared the school open. It was a technical, mixed, and integrated school. Students from Broadrick Secondary School, which used to be just next to Maju Secondary School, used to attend Technical studies at the school. Broadrick Secondary School amalgamated with Telok Kurau Secondary School in 2011.
Broadrick Secondary School merged with MacPherson Secondary School in 2017. The latter gets named after Ronald MacPherson, the Straits Settlements’ first Colonial Secretary. MacPherson Secondary School opened its doors in 1967 and has come a long way in servicing the requirements of the MacPherson housing estate’s youngsters. Woodsville Secondary School and MacPherson Secondary School combined in January 2004.

Applied Learning Programme
Students that participate in “Broadrick Entrepreneurship in STEM” are encouraged to think critically and creatively. Their “Entrepreneurship in STEM” curriculum teaches students to be curious leaders, critical thinkers, and entrepreneurs. A two-tiered Applied Learning Program is used to achieve this goal.
Learning for Life Programme
Broadrick Secondary School aims to provide pupils with a well-rounded education. Aesthetic, Community and Youth Leadership are all part of the Learning for Life Program at Broadrick Secondary School, which promotes Confidence And REsilience (CARE).
Students get an opportunity to find themselves and gain confidence and resilience to face a turbulent, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world to become future-ready learners with the strength of character. They feel that through learning new skills, interacting with people, and serving the community, they will be able to deepen their self-introspection and uncover their passion and purpose.
GEAR UP @ Broadrick
The GEAR-UP (Guiding & Empowering Students for Affiliation & Resilience to Unlock their Potential) Program At Broadrick is a school-based integrated support program designed to improve students’ learning motivation, school connectivity, and resilience.
Full Subject-Based Banding (FSBB)
Full Subject-Based Banding (Full SBB) will be implemented at Broadrick Secondary School beginning in 2022. They are working toward a single secondary education with several topic bands with Full SBB to suit the students learning demands.
It is part of a change in education toward recognizing children’s skills and interests and assisting them in developing confidence and a lifelong desire to study.
