Bukit Panjang MRT

Learn more about the Bukit Panjang MRT
Bukit Panjang MRT/LRT Station is a Mass Rapid Transit interchange station on the Downtown Line in Singapore, servicing Bukit Panjang New Town. It gets located on the border of the Bukit Panjang, Bukit Batok, and Choa Chu Kang planning districts. The Downtown Line’s western terminus, with the line continuing northwards as a service route to Gali Batu Depot. The Bukit Panjang MRT station gets connected to the LRT station via a bridge on the mezzanine level of the LRT station. Bukit Panjang Plaza and Junction 10 are both close to the interchange station. If the transfer takes less than 45 minutes, there will be no extra price.
Concourse:
Both the BPLRT and DTL concourses include faregates for automatic fare collection and access between the paid and unpaid portions of the station, with at least one bidirectional wide-swinging gate for passengers in wheelchairs, those carrying heavy objects, and those traveling with prams. Commuters can buy single or multiple journey tickets at General Ticketing Machines in both station concourses, which also have a Transitlink Add-Value Machine (BPLRT) and a Top-up Machine (DTL) for contactless card transactions. Like other Bukit Panjang MRT stations, the concourse features only one ticketing machine that serves both paid and unpaid portions, with a swing gate that allows either side of the machine to use it at any one time. The station office serves as a Passenger Service Centre on the DTL concourse, where commuters may inquire about travel options. The BPLRT Mezzanine Concourse connects both platforms to the DTL station via an overhead bridge (Level 2). Because there is no paid link, commuters must tap out and then tap back in when changing lines, with a 15-minute transfer time. Commuters who wait more than 15 minutes to reach their connecting train station will charge a new fare.
Platforms:
The underground Downtown Line station has two platforms. However, they get configured as an island platform. The air-conditioned station is isolated from the tunnel environment by full-height Platform screen doors, which improve commuter safety and station comfort. The concourse gets reached through escalators, stairs, and elevators. At the platform level, the ceiling is two stories high, giving the impression of space. Expected train arrival times and dominant messages get shown on Passenger Information Systems, which are plasma display panels positioned at each platform. Tactile flooring aids the sight-impaired in getting from the platform to the station exits.
Both platforms get alternately used for train turnarounds at the Downtown Line’s terminal. Gali Batu Depot is located farther up the railway, and withdrawal trains will also pass by these platforms. Students from Downtown Bay will use facilities such as Mechanical Engineering to find their way to the depot. For passenger safety, fixed half-height barriers are erected around the platform edge, especially during peak hours when the narrow platform becomes congested.
