Introduction :

In a bus depot, buses are serviced and stored (or bus garage). In addition to serving as a central site for bus parking, refueling, and maintenance, these facilities are crucial for bus operations since they also house offices and other amenities that support those operations. In contrast, bus parks (or out-stations) are residential areas that serve as locations for storing buses. Ang Mo Kio:

The primary bus depot for the Yio Chu Kang industrial estate, abbreviated AMDEP, is located on Ang Mo Kio Street 63, next to the Yio Chu Kang Sports Hall and the MRT Station. Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Yio Chu Kang, New Bridge Road, and Shenton Way are the principal bus routes supported by the depot.

Offices and a canteen gets located in the main depot building, also connected to a covered bus workshop for maintenance and repairs. Bus Service 48 was the first bus service to use the depot as its terminus when the route was extended from Upper East Coast in December 2011 through a route adjustment. The terminal once served as a turnaround for Short working Trip 17A before the Loyang Bus Package started. Service 18 changed to stop at Bedok North Bus Depot rather than looping back to Bedok International in November 2022. SBS Transit is now using a Temporary Occupation bus depot license to occupy the space once owned by BNDEP.

Bedok North Bus Depot

Historical Background:

Bedok After vacating previous facilities in the Eastern region, Singapore Bus Services (SBS) constructed North Depot, which began operating in December 1982. SBS buses were stationed there in Bedok South Bus Park before its opening. Bukit Batok Bus Depot :

The Portsdown, Whitley, and King Albert bus parks were among the former bus terminals at Alexandra and Woodlands that get replaced by the new Bukit Batok Bus Depot, which SBS built and started operating in January 1985. Loyang Bus Depot

Loyang Bus Depot (LYDEP):

A second bus depot gets built by the Singapore Land Transport Authority at Loyang. Seletar Bus Depot (SEDEP):

The third bus depot to be constructed by the Land Transport Authority in Singapore is Seletar Bus Depot, formerly named Sungei Seletar Bus Depot. It is off Yio Chu Kang Road and is home to 29 Seletar Bus Package services. About 500 buses can fit at the new bus depot, which finished in 2017. It has facilities for regular bus operations, vehicle maintenance, and rest space for bus drivers. The depot has an access road (Yio Chu Kang Crescent) built to serve it. On January 2018, Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan formally launched the depot.

Seletar Bus Depot


The Land Transport Authority released a request for bids in June as part of its new contracting strategy for the operation of 26 routes out of the new depot, including hubs at the Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange, Yio Chu Kang Bus Interchange, and Yishun Bus Interchange. The chosen bidder will run the bus services for five years, with a potential two-year extension based on satisfactory performance. The Land Transport Authority awarded SBS Transit the bus package on April 2017. SBS Transit took over the bus package’s services in three parts in March 2018 because it already controlled approximately half of the bus services.

Ulu Pandan Bus Depot (UPDEP):

The fourth bus depot constructed by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority is at Ulu Pandan. Under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme and Bus Contracting Model, the depot will be able to accommodate the expanding bus fleet over the coming years. The open-air bus park is on the west side of Business Park Drive, while the main depot building is on the east side of the road. Ulu Pandan Bus Depot


Both invited exhibitors and SBS Transit arranged a wide range of events for the general population. Throughout the occasion, guided depot tours and bus wash tours get offered. Tiong Seng Contractors Pte Ltd get granted Contract RD300 for Ulu Pandan Depot’s design and construction, valued at about S$70 million. The 8.3-acre bus depot gets built with a capacity for roughly 500 buses. The depot will probably be constructed with a noise barrier wall along its perimeter because it is close to local office complexes. Once it finished in Q1 of 2018, the bus depot will turn over to the selected bidder for the Bukit Merah Bus Package, a collection of 18 bus services that SBS Transit will operate through 1 September 2018. Before operations began in November of that year, the depot would turn over to SBS Transit for outfitting and preliminary work.
