The Biggest bus interchange in Singapore is Bedok Bus Interchange, which opened in November 2014. The previous six ITHs were Toa Payoh in May 2002, Sengkang in January 2003, Ang Mo Kio in April 2007, Boon Lay in December 2009, Serangoon in September 2011, and Clementi in November 2011. The Bedok Residences condominium is on the upper floors of Level 2, directly above Bedok Mall (which occupies Level 1 to Basement 2). Therefore, a single development’s retail, residential, and transportation services are all under one roof.

The entire interchange concourse features pedestrian entrances and exits on all sides, with the main gate at New Upper Changi Road connecting to the Bedok MRT station (Exit B).

Ang Mo Kio

In Singapore’s Ang Mo Kio Town Center, there is a bus interchange called Ang Mo Kio. 

The interchange is within AMK Hub, connected to Ang Mo Kio MRT Station through a pedestrian underpass beneath Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8.

The interchange, which has air conditioning, is the third on the North-South Line after the Sengkang Bus Interchange and the Toa Payoh Bus Interchange. Each interchange’s six berths features automated sliding doors that only open when the bus approaches them. It is the third interchange in Singapore to have air conditioning.

History

When Ang Mo Kio New Town started to grow in the late 1970s, the original bus interchange gets inaugurated in April 1983. Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3’s Blk 322 is just across from the current Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange, where buses once berthed at lengthened architect of bus stops. Along with the debut of this interchange, feeder service 269 also began.

On March 24, 2002, the bus interchange was moved to a temporary building at the opposite end of Ang Mo Kio Town Centre, close to the Ang Mo Kio Community Library, to make room for the construction of the AMK Hub. Initially planned to run for two years, the temporary bus interchange has now beyond that timeframe.

Bedok

The air-conditioned Bedok Bus Interchange is located roughly in the center of Bedok. On the second floor of the Bedok Mall, it is near the Bedok North Interchange and Bedok North Drive. The Bedok MRT station is attached to it. With 28 bus lines operating from it, it is Singapore’s second busiest interchange.

History

On February 25, 1979, the first building became operational. In Singapore, it was the first interchange to implement a color-coded queue system.

The interchange gets expanded and partially dismantled after it opened in 1981 for $3 million. Construction gets finished in 1983.

The interchange had 32 end-on berths, 7-sawtooth berths, and 33 distant parking bays after being expanded to 1.7 hectares (4.2 acres). Some bus services get transferred from the terminal to the interchange when Chai Chee Bus Terminal collapsed in 1985. In 1989, the Bedok MRT station opened to the south of the old building, completing the bus interchange and providing transportation options for those traveling within Bedok town and the surrounding East Coast Park.

Bishan

In Singapore, Bishan gets served by the Bishan Bus Interchange, a bus interchange. In 1988, Services 56 and 58 launched the interchange’s passenger operations as Bishan Bus Terminal, built in a distinctive squarish structure at Bishan Street 13. The building wraps around the parking of buses space.

North of the field, on the other side, is the Ministry of Education Language Centre (MOELC). A door beyond the junction allows passengers to change to the Circle Line.

History

The opening day for Bishan Bus Interchange was April 30, 1989. The temporary bus station that had served the new community of Bishan since December 1985 gets replaced with this one, which cost SGD$5.5 million to construct. It was one of the earliest bus interchanges built with an MRT station in mind. Passengers can easily switch between bus routes at this interchange and the Bishan MRT station.

Boon Lay

Boon Lay Bus Interchange is a bus interchange with air conditioning in Pioneer, in the western region of Singapore. Its location within the Jurong Point Shopping Mall and its integration with the nearby Boon Lay MRT Station are both advantageous. 

Passengers from Nanyang Technological University, Jurong Industrial Estate, and Tuas Industrial Estate are among the many passengers served by this interchange. The number of bus services, this interchange, which has 31, is the largest and busiest in Singapore.

Services terminated at the original Jurong Bus Interchange at Jurong Port Rd, and Jurong East Bus Interchange was rerouted to Boon Lay Bus Interchange and started operating there on July 1, 1990. The Jurong West extension and Tuas Industrial area were still substantially under construction. More bus services get added as both neighborhoods underwent development; by the early 2000s, the interchange gets served by about 30 bus lines.

Bukit Batok

The Bukit Batok Bus Interchange is a bus stop that serves the Bukit Batok Town Centre and the surrounding residential neighborhoods of Bukit Batok, Bukit Gombak, Hillview, and the industrial Bukit Batok East neighborhoods.

Blk 631 Bukit Batok Central is where the interchange is situated. A short distance from Bukit Batok MRT Station and West Mall Shopping Center, the sheltered concourse is housed beneath a multi-story carpark with a design resembling that of the former Serangoon and present-day Bishan Bus Interchanges. Club CSC @ Bukit Batok and the Bukit Batok Public Library are nearby amenities for the general public.

The Bulim Bus Package’s current operator, Tower Transit, is the anchor operator of the Bukit Batok Bus Interchange.

History

The Bukit Batok Bus Interchange opened for business on September 27, 1987, a Sunday. Then, it gets run by Singapore Bus Services (SBS), handling four feeder bus services in addition to the already-existing Services 61, 106, 122, 179, and 189: 361–367. 

The Bulim Bus Package gets allotted for Bukit Batok Interchange as part of the switch to the Bus Contracting Model. As a result, starting on May 28, 2016, Tower Transit, a new operator, assumed control of the interchange and began managing all bus services other than routes 61 and 852. feeder bus service 944, run by SMRT Corporation Buses, was established in August 2017.

Bukit Merah

The Bukit Merah Bus Interchange, situated in Bukit Merah Central, provides service to neighborhoods and commercial districts close to Bukit Merah. Industrial structures, a polyclinic, and a library are close by

Only a few bus interchanges serve MRT stations, including this one.

On February 14, 1981, the Bukit Merah estate – was served with the opening of the Bukit Merah Bus Interchange. The residential estates around Telok Blangah and Bukit Purmei get connected by feeder bus services at Bukit Merah Central. An overhead bridge over Bukit Merah Central and a driver’s canteen on the second level get added sometime after it first opened (possibly in the 1990s or 2000s).

Bukit Panjang

In Singapore, Bukit Panjang New Town gets served by Bukit Panjang Bus Interchange. Opposite Bukit Panjang Plaza, it is diagonally. Bukit Panjang LRT/MRT was the closest station.

The bus interchange, like the Bukit Panjang Terminal, was not immediately served by any MRT station that was already in place.

The present bus interchange was shut down on December 16 to make room for the construction of the Bukit Panjang Integrated Transport Hub, and all services that originated there get rerouted. 2015 is the anticipated year for The Hub’s completion

Choa Chu Kang

The Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange gets located at the Choa Chu Kang Town Centre – serves the surrounding residential communities of Choa Chu Kang, Yew Tee, Teck Whye, and Bukit Panjang, and the nearby Sungei Tengah and Sungei Kadut industrial communities.

Choa Chu Kang Drive and Choa Chu Kang Loop converge at this intersection, where the interchange is situated. The Choa Chu Kang MRT Station and Lot One Shoppers’ Mall are close to the shaded concourse building. Choa Chu Kang Park, the Choa Chu Kang Public Library, and the Choa Chu Kang Town Council are all nearby public amenities.

The anchor operator of Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange is SMRT Buses. With the implementation of the Bus Contracting Model (BCM), the Choa Chu Kang – Bukit Panjang Bus Package’s future operator will take over as the anchor operator of this interchange.

Clementi

An Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) called Clementi Bus Interchange is situated in Clementi Town Centre and serves West Coast and the surrounding residential neighborhoods.

The interchange, integrated between Clementi Mall and Clementi Towers, is Singapore’s sixth air-conditioned bus interchange, and it connects smoothly to the Clementi MRT station. The Cityvibe Mall, Clementi Polyclinic, 321 Clementi, and Block 448 Market & Hawker Centre are among the local amenities that are close by

SBS Transit is the Clementi Bus Interchange’s anchor operator at the moment. With the implementation of the Bus Contracting Model (BCM), the Clementi Road Bus Package’s future operator will take over as the anchor operator of this interchange.

Compassvale

Sengkang Town Centre’s Compassvale Bus Interchange, formerly known as the Sengkang Bus Interchange Expansion, is situated near the Sengkang Integrated Transport Hub. It is next to the former location of the Sengkang Temporary Bus Interchange, which was destroyed in 2003 after the air-conditioned Sengkang Bus Interchange began operating.

Opposite Sengkang interchange, Compassvale Bus Interchange gets constructed to expand the capacity of the present bus interchange and accommodate an extra 4–5 new bus services in parallel with Sengkang New Town’s expansion. Sengkang Square, Sengkang East Way, and Compassvale Road all abut the area.

Eunos 

Near the Eunos MRT Station is the Eunos Bus Interchange. Its design is influenced by traditional Malay elements, much like the MRT station, reflecting the region’s Malay heritage.

History

Before becoming a bus interchange in 1989 to connect with the recently completed Eunos MRT Station, Eunos Bus Terminal had been operating along Sims Avenue for some time. The Malay Minangkabau roof design, utilized for Eunos MRT, was incorporated into the Eunos Bus Interchange when it opened on Sunday, December 10, 1989. The neighborhood, which is close to Geylang Road Serai, now has more Malay flavor. Six routes from Eunos Bus Terminal, including the the3,50,84,382, and385, and the M4, were shifted to the interchange at its opening. 

Under the elevated MRT tracks, the bus interchange contains a bus park with 30 layover of buses spaces and a vehicular entrance and exit at Eunos Road 2; there are two boarding berths and four alighting berths.

HarbourFront

A bus stop called HarbourFront Bus Interchange is in Singapore’s southern region. The HarbourFront area’s retail and commercial developments are served by the terminal, situated along Seah Im Road, just off Telok Blangah Road.

Seah Im Food Court and HarbourFront MRT Station are also nearby when looking at the junction (Exit A). Previously, it was the World Trade Center Bus Terminal.

Terminal

At HarbourFront, at the base of Mount Faber, there is a modest bus interchange called HarbourFront Bus Interchange. Seah Im Food Court and Seah Im Road are both about the south and west edges of the area.

All of the terminal’s berths are right-angled (or end-on), and there is only one vehicular entrance and exit along Seah Im Road. These berths get utilized for bus overnight parking and passenger boarding/debarking. 

Hougang Central

The Hougang Central Bus Interchange is a bus stop that serves the Hougang, Buangkok, and Kovan residential neighborhoods.

Along the same name-brand road as the junction is the interchange building at Blk 840 Hougang Central. The Hougang MRT Station can get reached immediately from the covered concourse structure (Exit A). Public facilities close by include The Midtown, Hougang Mall, Kang Kar Mall, and Aljunied-Hougang Town Council.

SBS Transit currently serves as Hougang Central Bus Interchange’s anchor operator. The Sengkang-Hougang Bus Package’s future operator will take over as this interchange’s anchor operator with the Bus Contracting Model (BCM) implementation.

Joo Koon

To serve the industrial sectors around Pioneer and Tuas, Joo Koon Bus Interchange, an Integrated Transport Hub (ITH), is situated along Joo Koon Circle and Benoi Road. In November 2015, it debuted.

It is the ninth air-conditioned bus interchange in Singapore, integrated into the Fairprice Hub mixed-use development’s retail area with a direct connection to the Joo Koon MRT Station. Singapore Discovery Centre, Army Museum of Singapore, Kartright Speedway, and Arena Country Club are just a few of the local public amenities.

The anchor operator of Joo Koon Bus Interchange is SBS Transit. With the Bus Contracting Model (BCM) implementation, the Jurong West Bus Package’s future operator will take over as the anchor operator of this interchange.

Jurong East

The Relocated Jurong East Bus Interchange is a temporary bus interchange that serves the Jurong East neighborhood and is in Jurong East Central. The Jurong Regional Centre, of which it is a part, connects to numerous public facilities, including Jurong East MRT Station, JCube, Jurong Regional Library, Westgate, JEM, and Jurong Community Hospital/Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

Despite LTA having eliminated the term “temporary,” the relocated interchange, which became operational on December 6, 2020, replaces the original Jurong East Temporary Bus Interchange (2011–2020), which was situated next to Jurong East MRT station. The Jurong Region Line station and a future Integrated Transport System would get built on the location of the first interim interchange, which operated for nine years. 

Pasir Ris

The residential town of Pasir Ris gets served by the Pasir Ris Bus Interchange, which is in Pasir Ris Central. It provides services for the Pasir Ris Town Centre, including the Pasir Ris MRT Station and neighboring public facilities with the White Sands Shopping Mall, Pasir Ris Central Hawker Center, Pasir Ris Town Park, and Pasir Ris Sports Centre.

On July 3, 2021, the renovated Pasir Ris Bus Interchange officially inaugurated. It signifies opening a new concourse area on the eastern side of the current interchange, resulting in 23 new end-on berth lots and a specific location for the pick-up and drop-off of MINDEF shuttle buses.

The Pasir Ris Integrated Transport Hub (ITH), whose completion gets anticipated to occur in 2028, and the Pasir Ris Rail Turnback will need demolition on the western side of the current junction. The current bus services at Pasir Ris Bus Interchange are not changing their routes. 

Punggol

In Punggol Central, just next to the Punggol MRT/LRT Station, there is a bus interchange called Punggol Temporary Bus Interchange. It gets constructed to accommodate Punggol New Town’s residential buildings, designed to be easily disassembled when the land gets later renovated, maintaining its “temporary” status.

Since September 4, 2016, Go-Ahead Singapore has served as the Punggol Bus Interchange’s anchor operator, replacing SBS Transit. Go-Ahead runs 13 bus services that leave from the interchange by being the Loyang Bus Package’s successful tenderer.

Before the Punggol Bus Interchange opened, there was only one bus terminal in the city: the Punggol End Bus Terminal which has been around since the 1980s and is where Bus Services 82 and 83 get located.

Sembawang

In Sembawang, there is a bus interchange called Sembawang Bus Interchange. It provides access to Sun Plaza Shopping Mall and Sembawang MRT Station for the town of Sembawang.

In the past, bus routes used to end in many locations throughout Sembawang, each having a small bus terminus. The workers at Sembawang Shipyard get served by one such station, Admiralty Road West Bus Terminal (Service 980), situated at the Admiralty Road West and Canberra Road intersection. At the end of Sembawang Road, where Sembawang Park is now, was another bus terminal called Sembawang Road End Bus Terminal (Service 167).

Sengkang

Sengkang Bus Interchange is a bus interchange found in the heart of Sengkang New Town on the ground floor of Compass Heights condominium. The second bus interchange in Singapore and the first bus interchange along the North East Line to be air-conditioned, Sengkang Bus interchange is situated close to Sengkang MRT/LRT Station, inaugurated on January 18, 2003.

A bus terminal gets required by the late 1990s growth of Sengkang as a new residential town. To act as a centralized hub for Sengkang New Town’s public bus service and to make it easier to implement feeder bus services, Timothy made plans to build an interchange in the recently developed Sengkang Town Centre.

Serangoon

In Singapore, Serangoon Bus Interchange is a bus interchange that serves Serangoon and is located close by

It was inaugurated on September 3, 2011, with eight services and 17 bus bays, making it Singapore’s smallest air-conditioned bus interchange. It is also the first air-conditioned bus interchange on the Circle Line and the second air-conditioned interchange along the North East Line.

History

The construction of Serangoon New Town in the middle of the 1980s created the necessity for a bus interchange there. Serangoon Bus Interchange, constructed below a multi-story parking garage, debuted along Serangoon Central on March 10, 1988. (Block 264). The congested Serangoon Gardens Bus Junction and a temporary bus terminal on Serangoon Avenue 3 get replaced by this interchange. 

Service 106 was condensed to Marina South Center Bus Terminal on July 27, 2003, when it gets discovered by a source that it duplicated service 147 and the North East Line altogether. Service 81 and 103 get ultimately consolidated at this junction.

Tampines

Tampines Bus Interchange is a bus interchange in Singapore that serves Tampines New Town.

Early buses in Tampines New Town get run from the Tampines Bus Terminal (TBT1) on Tampines Avenue 5. Tampines Concourse

Singapore’s Tampines gets served by the Tampines Concourse Bus Interchange. The Tampines Concourse Bus Junction, nearby the Tampines MRT station and the Tampines Bus Interchange, was constructed to expand the capacity of the earlier interchange. Tampines Avenue 7 and Tampines Concourse encircle it.

History

The interchange, inaugurated on December 18, 2016, serves the new Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP) Bus Service 129 and the old Tampines Bus Interchange’s Bus Services 18 and 39. To reduce the passengers’ walking distance to the MRT Station for Bus Service 18, which changed from Tampines Bus Interchange to Tampines Concourse Bus Interchange, two new bus stations get built along Tampines Central 1 outside Tampines Bus Interchange.

Toa Payoh

In Toa Payoh, Singapore, there is a bus interchange. It was finished in 2002 and formally opened on May 19, 2002, by Yeo Cheow Tong, the country’s first air-conditioned bus interchange and the first bus interchange along the North-South Line. The North-South Line’s Toa Payoh MRT Station is directly accessible from the bus interchange.

History

Midway through the 1960s, Toa Payoh New Town gets established, but at the end of the decade, Toa Payoh still lacked adequate bus facilities. Traffic congestion gets frequently caused by the roadside bus terminals on Lorong 1 Toa Payoh, and there was also a roadside terminal on Lorong 6 Toa Payoh and Kim Keat Avenue back then. Woodlands (Temporary Bus Interchange)

As part of the new Woodlands Station building along the Thomson-East Coast Line, the Woodlands Regional Bus Interchange began undergoing extension and alteration work on March 12, 2016, and Woodlands Temporary Bus Interchange started operating in its place on March 13. (TEL). 

Along with the development of Woodlands New Town and the first Housing & Development Board (HDB) complexes in Marsiling, bus termini in Woodlands began to appear in the 1970s. For the new HDB development, a centralized bus terminal opened in the mid-1970s. The Marsiling Bus Terminal was constructed along Admiralty Road, next to Blocks 19 and 20, which housed local stores and a hawker center. By bus literature of the time, this terminal gets also known as Admiralty Road Terminal and Woodlands Bus Terminal.

Woodlands (Integrated Transport Hub)

Singapore is home to Woodlands Bus Interchange, a bus interchange formerly known as Woodlands Regional Bus Interchange. This interchange, situated in Woodlands, is close to Causeway Point Mall and connected to the Woodlands MRT station; in Singapore, it is the Biggest and busiest bus interchange. Woodlands Integrated Transport Hub is another name for this interchange.

First interchange

The Singaporean government announced plans to create a new bus interchange in Woodlands in 1991 to increase connectivity in the area. It was built beneath the Woodlands MRT station by the Mass Rapid Transit Corporation for a cost of S$34 million to improve connections between the station and the bus interchange and free up additional space for other uses.

The previous Woodlands interchange near Woodlands Checkpoint and the Marsiling bus terminal get replaced when the bus interchange started operating in February 1996. The Woodlands interchange, the size of three and a half football fields and had 11 bus bays, also had an integrated taxi stand and a bus parking lots facility set back from the passenger concourse.

Yio Chu Kang

A bus interchange known as Yio Chu Kang Bus Interchange can get found at Ang Mo Kio’s northern section, directly below Yio Chu Kang MRT Station.

The interchange comprises a single-vehicular concourse area with Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8 as its entrance and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 as its exit. The interchange concourse has three linear boarding berths on the north end and a single linear alighting berth at the south end. The area below the MRT viaducts is where the bus park and interchange office are situated. They are also on the south side.

There are pedestrian entrances and exits on every side of the interchange concourse. Transferring to nearby bus services that don’t stop at the interchange is simple due to the two bus stops along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6. Wheelchair access is available to every berth at this interchange.

Yishun

The Yishun Bus Interchange is a part of Northpoint City and is in northern Singapore. The interchange is a part of the new, as of September 8, 2019, Yishun Integrated Transport Hub (ITH). The previous bus interchange, which is now in use, was operational from August 23, 1987, to March 13, 2015. The Yishun Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) gets built when operations get moved to a temporary location on March 14, 2015. The temporary site was closed on September 7, 2019.

The initial interchange was constructed for S$2 million and inaugurated on August 23, 1987. It was Singapore’s first bus interchange created for the Trans-Island Bus Service. 

Bus interchanges to be upgraded

Seven bus interchanges will have waiting areas with more comfort and services for nursing mothers following renovations. Between 2004 and 2014, Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Boon Lay, Clementi, Sengkang, Serangoon, and Toa Payoh interchanges opened.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced last Thursday on Facebook that commuters might look forward to family care rooms with restrooms that include amenities for kids, nursing rooms, and priority queue zones with seats (July 7). In November 2015, the Joo Koon integrated transport hub launched the priority queuing zones.

The lighting and air conditioning systems will get updated, and improvements will made to worker amenities like an expanded passenger service office and interchange staff lounge.
