Katong Convent, one of 11 CHIJ schools in Singapore, was founded in 1930 as a private Primary English School with an enrolment of 197 students. In 1958, a branch built-in at Opera Estate to meet the growing demand for school places. A few of the Primary school instructors get relocated to the new convent.CHIJ Opera Estate is the name of the new school. The effort to establish a “new school” at Marine Terrace began in 1988. The move of CHIJ Opera Estate to Katong in 1990 was also a watershed moment in the school’s history; the new name, CHIJ (Katong) Primary, reflects the school’s union with Katong Convent’s primary department.

Curriculum:

National English Language curriculum and school-based programs employ at CHIJ (Katong) Primary School. The STELLAR (Strategies for English Language Learning and Reading) program assists females in developing a love for and confidence in the English language. This curriculum broadens and enhances the subject’s basis. Mathematics, Science, and Mother Tongue Languages are some of the other subjects.

Events:

Learning Journey 2019 at the P6 Science Centre:

The P6 kids participated in an interactive workshop about plants and insects. They also looked into other branches of science, such as biology and ecology.

 Better Internet Conference:

The Cyber Wellness Team from CHIJ (Katong) Primary School has been invited to the first event to promote awareness and safety in the appropriate use of the internet. Students get taught about the internet and how to make it work better for them.
