Geylang Methodist School Secondary

Know More About The Geylang Methodist School Secondary
Geylang Methodist School Secondary became a single session in February of the following year, with 38 classrooms (1,500 students) and a staff of 69. Another significant year for our Geylang Methodist School Secondary was 2007. Apart from the name change to symbolize the GM family of schools’ unity, it also marked the end of our redevelopment project. Our 95th anniversary will celebrate in 2019. The school was founded in 1924 as Geylang Methodist Girls’ School by Rev Lloyd Sullivan, Mrs Chia Han Kiat, and Miss Walker, all were Methodist Church members. Lessons get held at the sanctuary of Geylang Chinese Methodist Church, with 27 girls enrolled. With God’s help, we grew into Geylang Methodist School Secondary in 1951, and 3 years later, our first class of students sat the Cambridge Examination (equivalent to the GCE ‘O’ level Exam). With the support and financial aid of the Methodist churches, we were able to build our facilities and separate them into two schools – elementary and secondary. Geylang Methodist Secondary School was founded in 1984 when males were allowed for the first time to secondary school. On August 29th, Bishop Ho Chee Sin gets solemnly installed, and the academy gets renovated in 1998, with God continuing to bless the pupils.
