How do You Reach Kampong Bahru Bus Terminal

The Kampong Bahru Bus Terminal is on Spooner Road, at the intersection of Kampong Bahru Road and Jalan Bukit Merah. It primarily serves as a bus stop for routes that begin and terminate in the city. The terminal, which replaced the former New Bridge Road bus station, opened on March 10, 2018. As the winner of the Bukit Merah bus package, SBS Transit is now the primary operator of the Kampong Bahru bus terminal. The Kampong Bahru Bus Terminal is a bus terminal on Spooner Road north of Kampong Bahru Road. The bus terminal is the starting point for bus routes that travel through Chinatown. And the New Bridge Road region before branching out towards the mainland.

Outram Park MRT station, roughly 600 meters away, is the closest station (10 minutes on foot). The terminal has a one-of-a-kind car concourse with 29 parking spots, 25 angled and four parallel articulated bus parking spaces, and separate vehicle entrances and exits connecting Spooner Road. The passenger hall features four sawtooth berths and one linear drop berth for boarding operations. Each berth has metal waiting lines, priority bench seating, and a wheelchair waiting area. The Kampong Bahru Bus Terminal features eight spaces dedicated to SMRT buses, none of which are flexible.

History:

The New Bridge Road Bus Terminal was constructed in the 1970s to accommodate the several bus lines that finish at the south end of New Bridge Road. It replaced older Autobahn bus stations, which frequently from traffic congestion on the highways. Most, if not all, bus routes have been transferred from their roadside terminus to a new location. Several bus lines continued to serve the terminal until the East-West Line was from the early 1990s. Many bus routes between New Bridge Road and the housing projects have been deleted or adjusted as part of numerous bus rationalization schemes to avoid redundant MRT lines, leaving all but a handful of routes behindKampong Bahru Bus Terminal Entrance 

Bus Routes:

The 12 bus lines now serving the New Bridge Road bus station (2, 12, 12e, 54, 120, 121, 122, 174, 174e, 190, CT8, and CT18) will be transferred to the Kampong Bahru terminal in March.

Latest Amenities:

According to the Land Transportation Authority (LTA), the new terminal will contain accessible and secure embarkation and disembarkation facilities and other inclusive amenities, including a priority waiting for space for the elderly and disabled and a family room. The LTA also said that there would be 150 bicycle parking places in the terminal. Commuters heading to SGH will now have to exit at a bus stop on New Bridge Road and cross a pedestrian overpass to the SGH bus pick-up location.

On March 18, 2018, the new Bridge Road Bus Terminal relocated to Kampong Bahru Bus Terminal, which was on property held by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM), Malaysia’s prime railway operator. The previous bus station on New Bridge Road, and an adjacent parking park, were demolished to construct a new surgical center and extend the current Singapore General Hospital (SGH) infrastructure. The new facility, dubbed the Center for Elective Care, is set to open in 2022 and will add more than surgical rooms, specialty outpatient clinics, and inpatient facilities to SGH.
