Total Curriculum Framework
Our NASS Total Curriculum Framework (TCF) steers the holistic education we provide to develop, support, and challenge our students – to stretch their potential, anchor them in values, and empower Ngee Ann Secondary School. To learn for life and position them for the future – guided by this clear vision of what we want in a Ngee Ann graduate and recognising the reality of a world of change and disruption. Four principles underpin the NAS Total Curriculum Framework.
Global Citizens are both concerned and active.
Our department encourages students to be curious about the world around them. We allow students to ask inquiries on various historical, geographical, political, social, and economic topics. We guide them through the steps of an inquiry-based learning strategy to study complicated subjects by formulating questions, collecting evidence from various viewpoints, and examining the validity and reliability of these sources of information. Our pupils learn the abilities and recognise the importance of becoming educated critical thinkers results in this. We also ask them to consider complexities make connections to current events, and recommend actions that might improve certain aspects.
Problem-solvers in the Real World
The department’s goal is to provide our students with a firm foundation in mathematics and to help them grow into innovative problem solvers. Aside from mathematics, conceptual comprehension and technical mastery, students are encouraged to build procedural skills that involve acquiring and applying mathematical knowledge. Reasoning, communication connections thinking skills and application, and modelling are all included. Through real-world context problems and actual mathematical modelling projects, students are given the chance to build mathematical reasoning skills, convey problem-solving approaches, and apply learned concepts.
Every NASian is a SUPER adolescent.
We think that every student at Ngee Ann Secondary School can grow into a leader. The school aims to develop our student leaders into forward-thinking persons by involving them in projects relevant to their abilities and interests.
The goal is to help them find their voice and creativity as they think and plan actively address problems by devising their answers. We also urge kids to start their service projects for the school or community.
Citizenship and Character Education (CCE)
CCE (Character and Citizenship Education) has always been at the centre of Singaporean education. Several programmes, such as Civics and Moral Education (CME,1992), National Education (NE,1997), and Community Involvement Program (CIP,1997). CCE enables students to comprehend (head), care about (heart), and act on ethical values of respect, resilience, integrity, care, commitment, and responsibility for self and others. CCE also gives kids the knowledge, skills, and values they need to succeed in the VUCA world. We must take advantage of the fact that students spend so much of their time in school.
