In the Q3 2018, 62 high-end condos were transacted each costing at least $10 million which was reported after implementation of government cooling measures underlining the prestige and status of the Singaporean property market.
Property consultants reported that despite the new curbs, permanents resident and foreigners made up for 15% and 6.1% of the total non-landed sales compared to the Q2 2018 which was 13.6% and 5.6% respectively.
As a result of the ongoing US-China trade war, wealthy Chinese investors have been forced to stash their finances in the Singapore property market to cushion themselves against the devaluation of the yuan. As a result, mainland China is among the top foreign buyers of non-landed homes in Q3 2018.
