Know All About The Pentecost Methodist church 

The Pentecost Methodist church to which Singaporean Methodists belong. It is one of Singapore’s oldest churches, and it is from 1932. This church is one of the Methodist Missionary Society’s most prominent local congregations. The head pastor is Dr. Jonathan Seet, while the deputy pastors are Rev. Collin See and Pastor Isaac Tan.

Vision:

This Pasir Ris congregation has been worshipping and serving God since 1994. Pentecost, her name, represents the power of the Holy Spirit given to all believers to bear testimony to God’s truth in this world. They desire to be disciples of Jesus Christ at Pentecost Methodist Church, experiencing God’s power in prayer, God’s love in fellowship, and God’s joy in testifying.

History of The Pentecost Methodist church:

The first Peranakan service was on a Pentecost Sunday, May 15, 1932. Twelve persons participated. Rev. Chew Hock Hin was named pastor. In 1936, the establishment of church as Geylang Strait Chinese Methodist Church.

The Sunday School grew in size. The Methodist Youth Fellowship was founded by the Epworth League, and the Ladies’ Aid Society of Christian Service was founded in 1937. During the war, the Japanese army purchased the church building. Members remained steadfast, gathering and worshipping at the pastor’s and other members’ houses.

As Singapore’s political circumstances improved in 1941, the Geylang Strait Chinese Methodist Church and the other churches resumed use of the church building. During the week, for singing praises and delivering the Lord’s message, a male singing group gets created to visit houses. In 1946, Rev. Chew Hock Hin was appointed District Superintendent of the Methodist Church in Malaya, which included the Geylang Straits Chinese, Kampong Kapor, Paya Lebar, and several Malacca Methodist Churches.

In 1982, Pentecost Methodist Church celebrated its 50th anniversary with a membership of 708. It’s time to get back into shape. Purchase of the church property in 1983 with a lot of prayer and monetary help from people and friends. The Boys’ Brigade’s activities grew much more. The celebration of Diamond’s (75th) Anniversary was in 2007. All began with a Thanksgiving Concert dedicated to all our individuals and friends for their help in cash raising. The seventy-fifth-anniversary celebrations, which began on Pentecost Sunday, will conclude with a Christmas concert.

Kindergarten:

Pentecostal Methodist Church Kindergarten (PMCK) was founded in January 1996 and registered in the Department of Education/Early Childhood Development Agency. All of the instructors are well-trained pre-school educators. Since 2016, PMCK has obtained the Singapore Preschool Accreditation Framework (SPARK) quality mark. Its integrated early childhood curriculum gets intended for children aged 30 months to 6 years, ranging from pre-kindergarten through two kindergarten levels. Classrooms are multipurpose spaces for staging and music and dance events, and a children’s pool is among the interior amenities. You are on the third floor of the Pentecost Methodist Church. On the bottom level, there is an outdoor children’s playground.

Service Hours: 

Peranakan service begins at 7:30 a.m.

Service in traditional English begins at 8:30 a.m.

The Contemporary English Service is available at 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 a.m.

Children’s services are at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m.
