Applied Learning Programme(ALP)

Singapore has placed a strong emphasis on research in recent years as a result of the advancement. As our country strives to become a smart nation, it is critical to teach and provide our students with the necessary skills to help them succeed in their future employment. We hope to do this at Regent Secondary School through our Applied Learning Programme (ALP), which acts as a platform for guiding and exposing our pupils to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).

Programmes of Enrichment

Science Busking is a hands-on, interactive way to learn about and share what you’ve learned. Students apply what they’ve learned in literature and class to real-life experiences and circumstances. Busking consists of students performing live demonstrations (using household items) to show others may be interpreted, transmitted, and used in real life. Students express complicated scientific concepts through skilful, live demonstrations and bring them to life in Science Busking.

Science Learning Journeys is a set of activities designed to encourage students to learn outside the classroom. It contains short workshops that allow participants to apply what they’ve learned in class to real-life situations. There is also research activity that necessitates data collection.

Early Admissions Exercise Programme (EAE)

Before their GCE O-Level Examinations, students can apply for and obtain conditional offers of admission through the Polytechnic Early Admissions Exercise (EAE). Beyond academic grades, students enrolling through the Poly EAE evaluate based on demonstrated aptitude and enthusiasm.

The EAE programme at Regent Secondary acts as a platform for encapsulating the school’s 4-D philosophy.

Approach to education and career guidance (Discover, Decide, Develop, Dream). Students in Secondary 4 Express (4E) and Secondary 5 Normal Academic (5N) receive assistance with their EAE applications. In 2021, 82 per cent of 4E5N students who applied for EAE were chosen for interviews, with 47 per cent of students receiving an EAE programme of study.
