Guide To Know More About The Serangoon Garden Secondary School

Serangoon Garden Secondary School is a co-educational secondary school run by the Singapore government in Serangoon. Lichfield Secondary School was established in 1959 and was previously known as Serangoon Garden Secondary School. The school has a 45-year history. Serangoon Garden Government High School gets renamed in 1960, and both English and Chinese streams get taught under the same administration. It was transformed into a dual secondary school with classrooms for academic, technical, and commercial topics. It became an all-English stream school in 1984, with the last class of Chinese stream students graduating the following year. In mid-March 2004, the Serangoon Garden Secondary School relocated into its new, well-equipped facility.

School Philosophy, Culture, and Ethos:

Serangoon Garden Secondary School has had the community’s faith and confidence for over 61 years, dating back to 1959. Serangoon Garden Secondary School is acknowledged and respected for nurturing SGSians via a strong culture of compassion, respect, and control of a forward-thinking curriculum. Many SGSians’ lives get changed as a result of this. Our remarkable graduates have demonstrated their ability to traverse the complexities and ambiguities of the future while led by the school values of Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Diligence, and Empathy, exemplifying the vision of “Critical Thinkers. Thoughtful Leaders”. Football coach Fandi Ahmad and local entrepreneur Mr. Francis Ng are just a few of Serangoon Garden Secondary School PRIDE. The school has committed to using new pedagogies in our quest to develop future-ready compassionate and contributing citizens. These include using Thinking Routines, Design Thinking, and harnessing technology’s affordances to give SGSians more autonomy and control over their learning.

Co-Curricular Activities :

Co-Curricular Activities play an essential part in our students’ overall development. It allows students to explore their interests and talents to establish a lifetime enthusiasm for a particular activity or skill. As a result, the individual will be able to live a balanced life as an adult.

Beyond the CCA-specific abilities, every CCA emphasises social interaction by providing a common area for students of all backgrounds to form connections and integrate socially. Students’ friendships and a stronger feeling of belonging to the school and community through studying and engaging with one another. CCA also provides good opportunities for kids to learn values and social and emotional skills and develop 21st Century Competencies to prepare them for the future.

Aside from instilling principles, CCA instils in our students an entrepreneurial spirit, a risk-taking mentality, and a feeling of appreciation and thankfulness for the opportunity to give back to the community, all of which are essential for an individual’s overall growth.
