Guide to know more about the Geylang Methodist School

The school was founded in 1924 to prepare our students to be lighthouses for their classmates, families, communities, and country from generation to generation. We have remained committed to this vision over time. Geylang Methodist School (Primary) committed to developing each new generation of students into engaged young men and women equipped with a moral compass to guide their decisions and interactions with others and ready to lead and serve with compassion and pleasure. We feel that this will allow them to ‘grow’ their talents, traits, and calling to be of service to the community, where their attention, care, and support may make a positive impact in the lives of others.

School Ethos, Philosophy, and Culture:

The whole kid gets nurtured at Geylang Methodist School (Primary). Each kid will ‘in to learn,’ with a solid foundation in literacy, numeracy, and scientific knowledge. It is to assist children in preparing to ‘depart to serve and be ready to exhibit their concern for their school, community, and nation via active engagement and contribution to the betterment of Singapore. Our school strives to instill in every student ambition to achieve academic and character greatness and a willingness to take chances and give their all. Because we believe that every child can learn, we provide our students with the skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm for learning that will allow them to grow holistically. With the learner at the core of the curriculum, the school believes in teaching 21st-century abilities to every student using ICT. We are firm believers in establishing in pupils the appropriate values and attitudes that fit with the school’s Desired Educational Outcomes. The students will be provided with leadership skills and will infuse with competencies and school values that will help them build excellent character. The school’s faculty believes that we must ‘enter to serve’ our students’ needs to ‘etch a legacy’ in our students and the Geylang neighborhood.

School Crest:

Geylang Methodist School’s ideals and aspirations get embodied in the School Crest. The shield provides protection and serves as a reminder of the Lord God,  our strength, helper. A fiery torch created by the letters ‘M’ and ‘S’ sits on the shield. This torch represents GMS’s desire to find Light and Truth in Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, whose Truth will set us free.
