Guide to know about Hougang Primary School
Hougang Primary is a public primary school in Singapore’s Hougang neighbourhood. It began in 2000 when it was temporarily relocated along Yio Chu Kang Road while the new school building gets built. It only accepts kids from Primary 1 to Primary 3, and this group of P2-3 students gets transferred from other schools. In 2001, it relocated to a new school facility on Hougang Street 93, where it enrolled its second class. Hougang Secondary School gets located across the street.
The Hougang Primary School has received numerous prizes, including the “Lotus Award,” and is noteworthy for such a young institution. The school has already graduated two pioneer batches of pupils who completed their primary school education and is now enrolling in its eighth Primary class.

School Advisory Committee (SAC)
The School Advisory Committee for Hougang Primary School gets established in 2001. Members of the committee have contributed significantly to our institution from its beginning. They collaborate closely with the school administration, offer strong support for school programs, and assist in the fundraising money for school development and the enrichment implementation programs for students’ holistic development. Currently, SAC consists of community leaders, grassroots leaders, professionals, and current student parents.
Hougang Primary School’s Healthy Meals Program
Since July 11, 2016, the Healthy Meals in Schools Programme has been in place to support the HPB strategy of instilling healthy eating habits in children.
This School program intends to accomplish the following goals:
- Raise nutrition awareness.
- Incorporate more fruits, veggies, and whole grains into the pupil’s diet.
- Limit high-fat, high-salt, and high-sugar foods in your diet.
Stallholders selling set meals that include rice/noodles, meat, vegetable, and fruit will participate in this program. The set meal will be available in two sizes: small and large, with prices ranging from $1.30 to $2.00.
