Understand More About The Jurongville Secondary School
Jurongville Secondary School and Hong Kah Secondary School amalgamated in 2019. In April 2017, the Ministry of Education informed the two institutions of the merger decision and its objective. After all students, staff, parents, and stakeholders inform of the decision, schools work closely to ensure a smooth transition in January 2019. Both of the component schools have comparable histories. In 1994, Jurongville Secondary and Hong Kah Secondary welcomed their first Secondary One pupils. For a quarter-century, these schools, located just a short distance apart along Jurong East Avenue 1, served Jurong locals dutifully and well. On 15 December 2018, Mr Chan Yew Wooi, formerly Director Of Professional Development, Academy of Singapore Teachers, was named principal of Jurongville Secondary School.
School Philosophy, Culture, and Ethos:
In developing our curriculum, the school gets guided by our belief of ‘Everyone Can Learn, Everyone Can Achieve, and Everyone Can Contribute.’ With this idea as to its foundation, the school provides a wide range of programs that prepare our students holistically for life’s changes and difficulties. Jurongville Secondary School student-centred learning culture gets built on the following five school learning outcomes: Our students are responsible contributors to their family, society, and country’s well-being. They have mastered the secondary curriculum; they are self-aware of their abilities and interests; and have excellent communication and leadership skills as individuals, team members, and leaders. Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Empathy are among the PRIDE school principles that our loving instructors instil in their children. When our children master these principles and use them in their lives, they will be the pride of our families, communities, and country.
