Know All About The Bukit Panjang Neighbourhood

Bukit Panjang Neighbourhood is located in Singapore’s west region and means “long hill” in Malay, and it gets called after a series of hills that spanned for miles and ended at Bukit Timah Hill. The district of Bukit Panjang gets briefly renamed Zhenghua, but the government decided to restore its original name due to famous opposition to the new name. These HDB apartments get developed to give the area a distinct personality from the rest of the neighbourhood. Bukit Panjang Neighbourhood provided a unique challenge to HDB’s architects and engineers because of its mountainous topography. HDB blocks couldn’t be erect consistently since they’d have to build on land with a wide range of elevations.

Residents that lead an active lifestyle may want to learn about the sporting facilities available in the Bukit Panjang Neighbourhood area. Senja-Cashew Community Club is the first fully integrated CC and sports complex in Bukit Panjang, located just across Bukit Panjang Plaza. An eight-lane swimming pool, an infinity pool with a jacuzzi, a children’s playground with water features, a sports hall for badminton, basketball, table tennis, tennis courts, a street soccer court, and two dance studios are among the modern sports facilities.

Bukit Panjang – Shop:

The neighbourhood’s main shopping area, Bukit Panjang Plaza, gets located near the Bukit Panjang MRT and LRT stations Bukit Panjang Bus Interchange. It has a grocery, a community library, and a variety of other stores and eateries to cater to inhabitants’ requirements. Residents also shop in Blocks 256-260 Bangkit Road, Fajar Shopping Center, Greenridge Shopping Centre, and Hillion Mall. Residents frequent Bangkit Road for deals and shop at the adjacent markets supermarket and a wet market where they may purchase fresh produce.

The Bukit Panjang Community Library is a public library that serves as a study area for students and gets located within Bukit Panjang Plaza. Apart from a few nursery schools, the district has six primary schools and five high schools to serve the children in the region.

Despite its distance from nearby towns and the Singapore Central Business District (CBD), Bukit Panjang is well-connected by expressways and public transportation, making the rest of Singapore easily accessible.

Bukit Panjang Neighbourhood gets located near the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) and the Kranji Expressway, two of Singapore’s essential motorways (KJE). The Downtown MRT line travels via two stations in the neighbourhood: Bukit Panjang Station and Cashew Station, in terms of public transportation. The Bukit Panjang LRT (Light Rail Transit) line is also located at Bukit Panjang Station and runs through eight stops within the neighbourhood.

Public Library:

The Bukit Panjang Public Library, which reopened in 2017 following a refurbishment, now has two different zones on either end of the mall’s top floor, one for children and the other for adults and teenagers. Students and remote workers will appreciate the lecture-theatre-style study room, where you can settle in for some serious work in the library’s quiet settings.
