Know The Holistic Education Of  CHIJ Our Lady of Good Counsel

The Convent of Our Lady of Good Counsel, the known, was founded in 1960 in a single building block with its main school entrance at Serangoon Gardens’ Cooling Close. The CHIJ Our Lady of Good Counsel created at the time to serve the educational needs of the females of Serangoon Gardens residents from Yio Chu Kang and Seletar Hills. It constructed next to the Convent House, which housed a convent of Catholic nuns. The school’s first few principals were Catholic Sisters (nuns) who lived in this apartment on campus.

During the curricular time at CHIJ OLGC, students’ learning strengthened and extended through numerous programmes. Our lecturers aggressively encourage pupils to read extensively and intensively. Students are involved in a variety of learning activities. Storytime@Recess, book marketing during recess, presentations, and class newsletters are just examples. The English department is helping to put the Applied Learning Program together (ALP) in CHIJ Our Lady of Good Counsel. Teachers are responsible 0 students developing the 21CC skills of being confident and effective communicators critical thinkers.

Co-curricular Activites 

CCA is a component of our student’s overall education. CCA’s mission is to give our girls a place to explore their interests and abilities while also providing opportunities for healthy and enjoyable activities. CCA also attempts emphasise social contact by creating a common area for students of various backgrounds to form connections and integrate socially. We hope that through CCA, we can instil in our girls our school’s values, social and emotional competencies, and emerging 21st Century competencies, all of which are critical in their development as future leaders.

Sports & Activities

Once our children reach Primary 3, they can choose from four sports and games, and they are usually the favoured CCAs for students who are more sports-oriented. Because they must go through rigorous and time-consuming training methods, our Sports and Games athletes are chosen and dedicated. They edge over the Direct School Admissions (DSA) process since many secondary schools hunt for exceptional student-athletes throughout Zonal and National sports tournaments.

Program For Applies Learning (ALP)

The ALP for Drama and Literary Arts (D’LitE) earning CHIJ OLGC. Every year, we produce musical theatre aesthetics programmes. English or Mother Tongue languages students participate in theatre, writing and exercises. Lower elementary kids exposed to speech and drama in all languages, and pupils in grades one through five have the opportunity to see Chinese musicals.

Learning For Life Programme (LLP)

The LLP emphasises real-world experience learning to help students develop their character and values. It allows students to take the lead in community service, which helps to develop values and life skills. In our student leadership programme school uses “The Leader in Me – 7 Habits of Highly Effective Student Leaders.” In developing our student leaders, the school employs the Head-Heart-Hand method.\

• Head (Know, Understand, and Appreciate) – Expand pupils’ intellectual capacity by comprehending diverse leadership, talents, and competencies in knowledge and learning.
• Heart (Gratitude, Empathy, and a Desire to Serve) – Through leadership skills, students’ emotional domain in relating to and working with others nurtured.
