What does Fern Green Primary School Provide Its Students?

The school wants to foster a caring and disciplined environment. “Work Hard and Be Nice” is the school’s motto, and it acts as a continual reminder of this purpose. The Fern Green Primary School uses a village approach to education, with everyone from pupils to professionals keeping an eye on one another.

Distinctive Programs and Services

The FGPS Maker Education ALP gets designed to pique students’ interest in STEM by exposing them to fun projects that allow them to design and build solutions to challenges using everyday materials and STEM ideas. The Fern Green Primary School seek to equip kids with 21st-century abilities, refine their critical and innovative thinking skills, stimulate invention, and improve their capacity to recognize and solve problems through the Maker Education ALP.

The school’s Learning for Life Programme (LLP) teaches all pupils the 21CC and social-emotional competencies through activities developing these skills in our future leaders and champions. It will get done by the R3ICH principles at the heart of the 21CC framework to guarantee that students are inspired to serve and lead others to excel in their chosen fields. It is also consistent with the school’s core values of respect, responsibility, resilience, integrity, care, and harmony.

School Curricular Planning Philosophy

John Dewey, an American philosopher, and educational reformer is the inspiration for the school’s curricular planning philosophy. “Give the students something to do, not something to study,” according to Dewey, “and the doing is of such character as to compel thinking.” Students reflect on what occurred, acquire problem-solving abilities, and use what they have learned in their future lives as they learn from the experience.

The school believes that effective learning occurs when the requirements of the students are taken into account when creating lesson plans. As students grow from kindergarten to secondary school, they want to maintain their natural curiosity and develop into well-rounded, passionate, and curious lifelong learners eager to start on the next step of their educational journey.

Physical Education, Art, and Music at the School

The Department of Physical Education, Art, and Music strives to achieve the following goals:

  • Assist students in developing a good and enjoyable PE learning experience that leads to a healthy lifestyle.
  • Encourage a love of the visual and performing arts.
  • Instill positive sportsmanship, resilience, respect, and sports safety in others and yourself in PE, Art, and Music classes.
  • Develop skilled, confident, and efficient physical education, art, and music teachers.

Sexuality Education

In schools, Sexuality Education (SEd) aims to help students understand the physiological, social, and emotional changes that occur as they grow older, develop healthy and rewarding relationships, including those with people of the opposite sex, and make wise, informed, and responsible sexuality decisions. The centrality of the family as the fundamental unit of society is the foundation of SEd. It entails promoting happy, heterosexual marriages and stable nuclear families with the help of extended family members. SEd is taught and learned with respect for the values and beliefs of Singapore’s various ethnic and religious communities on sexuality concerns.
