Know About The Students Programme In Kranji Primary school

Kranji Primary School was founded in 1997 as a Government co-educational school to fulfil the needs of Choa Chu Kang New Town’s expanding population of young families. Then Kranji Primary School, Mr Yeo Cheow Tong, the then-Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Member of Parliament for Hong Kah, declared the school open on July 3, 1999.

Drama infused Curriculum in English.

Drama is a great way to make language learning more enjoyable. It can provide opportunities for children to learn English in realistic and engaging learning experiences and apply it in a context that brings it to life through a drama-infused curriculum.

It is an effective teaching method for capturing students’ attention in the classroom and facilitating effective language learning in Kranji Primary School. Drama is interwoven into the Stellar Curriculum in Kranji to make language learning more exciting and lively. For pupils to explore and develop ideas classroom might turn into an imaginative or real-world scenario. 

Program for the Development of Talent

The English Department’s Talent Development Program strives to encourage and develop students who have a significant talent for English. 

Literature used to help students have a better understanding of the many literary aspects, as well as to improve comprehension and vocabulary. For each level, literature works of increasing difficulty chosen. They are as follows:

  • Julia Donaldson’s The Magic Paintbrush (P3)
  • Andrew Clements’ Frindle (P4)
  • Roald Dahl’s Matilda (P5)

Students read and reply to works of literature throughout each session, emphasising character development and plot development, perspective-taking, and analysing effective language.

Learning Support Program (LSP)

The LSP is a specialised early intervention programme designed to help students enter Primary 1 with the limited English language and literacy skills. Pupils with LSP identify through a comprehensive screening approach begins in Primary 1. Its goal is to teach these students reading and spelling abilities they may participate in regular classes. At the start of each year, students identify using the Early Literacy Indicators, a group screening tool developed by MOE. Learn Support Coordinators trained to deliver LSP lessons (LSCs).

Remediation Program for Reading

The Ministry of Education’s School-based Dyslexia Remediation programme is a two-year intervention programme for pupils in Primary 3 and 4 who struggle with reading in English despite having completed the Learning Support Programme in P1 and P2. The programme is delivered in small groups by certified school staff who follow a remediation curriculum created by MOE Reading Specialists. It introduces students to various reading comprehension coping skills that can help them better manage their everyday learning. This class takes place twice a week after school hours.

Dyslexia Remediation Program in Schools 

The Ministry of Education’s School-based Dyslexia Remediation programme is a two-year intervention programme for kids in Primary 3 and 4. These pupils selected for assistance as part of a comprehensive dyslexia screening process at the end of Primary 2. The programme is delivered in small groups by certified school staff who follow a remediation curriculum created by MOE Reading Specialists.  Students will benefit from the remediation in terms of reading and spelling. This programme takes place four times each week after school hours.
