Guide to Know About Robertson Quay Neighbourhood

Robertson Quay Neighbourhood used to be one of the three main Wharves at the mouth of the Singapore River with Boat Quay and Clarke Quay. In the 1880s, European and Chinese-style warehouses and wharves get constructed. The Robertson Quay Neighbourhood gets developed for hotel, business, and residential uses by the URA (Urban Redevelopment Authority) in the 1990s. It is now a developed area with restaurants, pubs, cafes, condos, offices, and other recreational facilities.

Stay

The Alkaff Bridge is one of the most recognisable landmarks in Robertson Quay. The steel truss Alkaff bridge, built-in 1997 as part of a promenade design by the Urban Redevelopment Authority, provided pedestrian access between the two river banks. Pacita Ahbad, a Filipino artist, used 55 different colours to transform the chilly steel bridge into one that emanates joy. The Alkaff Bridge, Singapore’s first art bridge, is currently the promenade’s focal point.

Eat and Drink

Robertson Quay offers an eclectic mix of alfresco restaurants, wine bars, and international cuisines among the luxury residential property. Restaurants like Bella Pasta with its riverfront patio eating and its sister business Bella Pizza – some of the best suggestions for Italian cuisine, perhaps not just in this area – will leave patrons spoilt for choice. Ju Shin Jung, an authentic KBBQ chain with a 20-year presence in Singapore, is a must-visit for KBBQ aficionados.

Parks and Gardens

Robertson Quay is a 50-hectare stretch of the Singapore River that stretches from the river mouth to the Kim Seng Bridge. With the river and surrounding flora, it’s safe to say that this neighbourhood has a distinct and calm atmosphere. You go to Fort Canning Park and The Istana. While history fans and environment lovers will enjoy Fort Canning Park, The Istana may appeal to various people. You visit the Istana to witness the monthly changing of the guard event. It’s fascinating to observe, particularly if you’re new to the nation. A floral display centred around the year’s major holidays and an oasis of light that appears when darkness falls are among the highlights. Fort Canning Park is well-known for its historical value and must-see antique artefacts. The Large lawns and greenery are more popular as celebratory sites for gatherings, such as concerts, festivals, weddings, parties, and other events.

Salons, relaxing spas, art, retail establishments, and convenience stores can all get found in small clusters. Visit UE Square and Robertson Walk, both of which are within walking distance of each other, if you’re looking for shopping malls.

Play

If you ask most residents about entertainment, they would tell you that Boat Quay, Clarke Quay, and Mohamed Sultan Road are hotspots. While Mohamed Sultan Road has lost its lustre, Boat and Clarke Quay are still going strong and are only a short walk from Robertson Quay. Come here to celebrate Halloween!
