All You Need To Know About The Jurong Secondary School

Jurong Secondary School Sports Scholarship gets announced at the ceremony to develop sporting potential, particularly in the school’s specialised sports of basketball and volleyball. Mr Lee Kuan Yew, the then-Prime Minister of Singapore, paid his first visit to Jurong Constituency in 1963. Mr Lee gets greeted warmly, and community leaders took advantage of the occasion to request a secondary school, which the constituency lacked. In August 1963, then-Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew formally established Jurong Integrated Secondary School at 12th mile Jurong Road, with five instructors and 100 pupils. In 2008, to commemorate the school’s 45th anniversary, the Sports, Aesthetics, Innovation, and Leadership Award was established to aid student growth in non-academic fields. In 2011, the school constructed new sports facilities, such as the Indoor Sports Hall, to assist the school’s athletic program.

School Philosophy, Culture, and Ethos:

The school used to be known as Jurong Integrated Secondary School, and it had both an English and a Chinese stream. JSS has a reputation for its rich Chinese heritage, strong community ties, and all education for its students. Innovative programs were introduced to nurture character, cultivate thinking and independent learning, and enable students to pursue excellence while growing as concerned citizens who contribute meaningfully back to the community, all guided by the Jurong Secondary School values of Loyalty, Industry, Sincerity, and Love. General rules:

• Students must adhere to the school’s dress code. It is completely forbidden to alter the outfit.
• All students must dress appropriately at all times, including during school holidays and outside school hours.
• JSS has a reputation for its rich Chinese heritage, strong community ties, and education for its students.
• Singaporean students are required to sing the National Anthem and take the Pledge. The Pledge will take with the right fist over the heart.
• A letter of warning will send to a student who is late six times a year without a sufficient explanation.
• Without grounds, students with less than a 95% attendance rate may deny the opportunity to appear for the End-of-Year test.
• Students get expected to conduct themselves professionally at all times.
• Students must keep silent when gathered at the parade plaza or hall for a flag-raising ceremony or other school events. They must act professionally during such occasions, showing common decency and respect to all parties involved in guest speakers.
• During class, students get expected to pay attention and engage actively.
