Want To Know About The Northbrooks Secondary School?
On the 2nd of January 2000, Northbrook’s Secondary School opened its doors with eight Secondary classrooms, marking the beginning of a new decade. The Northbrooks Secondary School is fully equipped with IT facilities and is nestled within the lovely natural surroundings of Yishun Park and built at a cost of about S$23 million.
The School will focus on developing the character of its students, as well as helping them develop compassion for others, in addition to their learning capacity.
Signature C&T Activities and Programs
Brooksians taught how to make stained glass windows. As part of their Visual Art lesson, they will study the fundamentals of designing and creating a Stained Glass creation. It gives a genuine venue for fostering Habits of Mind as an art form. Northbrooks Secondary School will work in groups to build resilience and learn to value each other’s abilities. Students use their imagination to create elaborate stained glass artworks based on a predetermined topic.
Projects in the Lower Secondary FCE
Brooksians take part in their Lower Secondary FCE Projects, which are an element of the FCE curriculum and help them develop their process and research abilities so they can become more independent, creative, and critical thinkers.
Geographical Investigation in Secondary Two
In March, students in Secondary 2 Express and Normal Academic undertook a Geographical Investigation (GI) in the Tiong Bahru area. They conducted interviews with locals at Tiong Bahru Market to obtain firsthand information. They also practised other geographic skills like drawing the area’s shifting housing scene and doing a land study. These activities assisted pupils in comprehending the shifting demographics of the area’s residents. Students were needed to conduct preparatory internet study on the history and legacy of Tiong Bahru addition opportunity to apply their Geographical skills.
Flying Club for Young People
The Northbrook Youth Flying Club (NYFC) was founded in January 2003 to provide training and guidance to students interested in pursuing careers in the aerospace sector. Our pupils mastered control-line flying in the early years and competed in various national and international aeromodelling events, where they excelled. Our Youth Flying Club is actively pursuing numerous platforms, including radio-controlled flying, drone flying, drone coding, FPV drone racing, and flight simulations continue to grow our Aerospace Niche. Our pupils have excelled in the Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition and other inter-school events such as the National Airfix Aeromodelling Competition.
